S2 Ep38: Voluntourism and No White Saviors
The tagline of the @NoWhiteSaviors Instagram account reads, “We never said no to white people. We just know you shouldn’t be the hero of the story. If you’re not uncomfortable, you’re not listening.” In today’s episode it is time to listen, so that as travelers and humanitarians, we can do better.
No White Saviors is an advocacy campaign led by a majority female, majority African team of professionals based in Kampala, Uganda. Their collective experience in the development and aid sectors have led them towards a deep commitment to seeing things move towards a more equitable, anti-racist direction.
Guest: Olivia and Wendy of No White Saviors, the umbrella advocacy campaign giving birth to Kusimama Africa, the hands-on work in Uganda.
